Jon Ekstrand is a Swedish composer with an electronic music background and as a sound designer. Since 1999, he has worked and contributed as a composer or a sound designer on several feature films, television movies, TV series and short films, including music for the Swedish TV series Sebastian Bergman (2010), Hamilton (2012) Farang (2017) Alex (2018). When working for Owe Svensson from 1997 -2001 (sound designer for Ingmar Bergman, Bo Widerberg and Andrei Tarkovski), Jon got his passion for the art of sound and music in cinema. Since then Jon has become one of the most prolific film music composers to come out of Sweden in recent years. His first work as a composer, was the Danish short film The Boxer (2003) directed by Daniel Espinosa. He has collaborated with Espinosa on multiple projects, including Babylon Disease (2004), Outside Love (2007), Snabba Cash (2010), Child 44 (2015) and the film Life (2017) which marks their sixth project together. In 2005 Jon received the SKAP (Swedish Composers and Lyricists) scholar for his score for Babylon Disease. In 2016 Jon was nominated for Best Music at the Guldbagge Awards for The Deposit/Detvita folket (2015), directed by Lisa Aschan and in 2018 was nominated for Best Music at the Guldbagge Awards for Borg McEnroe. Currently, Jon is working on Marvel's Morbius with Daniel Espinosa.
